My
STORY
I am a qualified Psychologist from South Africa, and I am currently registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
As a psychologist, I have worked with people from all walks of life, from various backgrounds and presenting with many different needs. Over the years, I have gained knowledge and experience not only in the field of counselling, but I have also enjoyed facilitating workshops and administering assessments.
Whether it’s individual, family or group counselling, I believe that interventions based on a strong therapeutic relationship, drawing on the strengths of those seeking assistance, are most effective.

Counselling is the provision of professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal or psychological difficulties.

Who can benefit from counselling
Counselling sessions can make a difference, no matter what background you are from, what age you are or what difficulty you are facing.

How many sessions will I require
Each person is different and each person presents with their own unique circumstances, so the number of sessions required depends on the client's individual needs.

What to expect in the first session
During the first session, Claire will take the time to get to know you and spend time talking to you about what challenges you currently face. When can a psychologist share my private information without my consent?
In some specific situations, psychologists can share information without the client's written consent. Common exceptions are:
-
Psychologists may disclose private information without consent in order to protect the patient or the public from serious harm — if, for example, a client discusses plans to attempt suicide or harm another person.
-
Psychologists are required to report ongoing domestic violence, abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or people with disabilities.
-
Psychologists may release information if they receive a court order. That might happen if a person's mental health came into question during legal proceedings.
-
As mandatory reporters, psychologists are legally required to make a report to Family and Community Services if the psychologist is concerned that a child or young person’s safety, welfare or wellbeing is at significant risk of harm.
